At present, BUET has 16 training sections under 5 faculties along with it provides three institutions. Each year the consumption of undergrad learners is about Nine hundred, even though the intake of graduated pupils in Masters as well as PhD programs is about One thousand. The history of this institution dates back to the days of Dhaka Survey College which was established at Nalgola, in Old Dhaka in 1876 to train Surveyors for the then Government of Bengal of British India. Since the many years passed, the Survey College grew to become the Ahsanullah College of Engineering offering three-year diploma courses in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. In recognition in the generous monetary contribution from your then Nawab of Dhaka, it was named following his father Khawja Ahsanullah.
It moved to its present premises in 1912. In 1947, the College was upgraded to Ahsanullah Engineering School as being a Faculty of Engineering below the University of Dhaka, offering four-year bachelor’s courses in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering. In order to produce amenities for postgraduate studies and exploration, Ahsanullah Engineering School was upgraded for the standing of the University in 1962 and was named East Pakistan University of Engineering and Engineering. Soon after the war of Liberation in 1971, Bangladesh became an independent state along with the university was renamed as the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Engineering.
Till today, it has created close to 25,000 graduates in distinct branches of engineering and architecture, and has established a great reputation all over the world for that superior of its graduates, a lot of whom have excelled in their profession in different parts in the globe. It was in a position to attract college students from nations like India, Nepal, Iran, Jordan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Palestine.
